Learning in the workplace

It is important to remember that while you will be doing work as part of your WIL activity, the main focus should be on learning through the experience.
While learning in the workplace differs from learning in the classroom, you will want to employ similar learning strategies to ensure that you get the most from your experience. You will need to be proactive, offer to get involved and be enthusiastic about the opportunity you have been given. An important strategy during your WIL activity is to capture what you have learned so that you can reflect on the experience after you’ve completed it.

From this experience you will also learn more about whether you’d like to pursure this career path or type of job in future. It’s important to bear in mind that a WIL activity can also become an avenue to other work opportunities within that organisation.
